What you Must Know About The IELTS exam Day
Candidates may be feeling a bit nervous about the IELTS test day.
It is a normal thing that comes with the test, most especially to someone that has not taken such a test before.
IELTS test takers are advised to come to the test venue early and get ready for the test.

How Long Does the exam take?
Reading, listening, and writing test takes not more than 2 hours 40 minutes and there are no breaks between the test parts.

The time allocated for the computer-delivered listening test differs from the paper-based test.

When am I going to get my IELTS result?
The IELTS officials will send you a paper copy of your IELTS test score via courier delivery within 13 days after the paper-based exam date, also five days after a computer delivery test.
Note: IELTS result will not be announced over the phone or through email.
All candidates will receive their results through courier.
Test takers are to collect their Test Report Form directly to the institutions where they applied to, whether they have taken a computer-delivered or paper-based test
Institutions request original copies of your Test Report Form as photocopies will not be accepted.
The Exam officials can send up to five additional result copies of the Test Report Form directly to institutions applied which may be Universities, institutions, and immigration.
This type of offer requires the individual to include the relevant addresses when booking the test
Another important thing is the postal address of the institution which should be given in full.
In case of an incomplete address, the test officials will not be able to check whether the institution has access to the IELTS Exam Report Form Verification service that allows it to view your result after submitting it electronically.

If you wish to get another copy of your TRF to be sent to a recognized organization in addition to five copies, it will require that the candidate has to pay an administration fee as stated below

In a situation where your test center has closed, you can still order for additional test report form from IELTS https://www.ielts.org/book-a-test/additional-trf-form
While doing this you need to provide the institution’s address and fill in the Application for Additional Test Report Form.
Include a photocopy of your IELTS exam result and passport to the application form and send it to the British Council Office.
Then it will be sent directly to the institution.
Additional Test Report Form takes around 10 days to be processed.
What Does IELTS Score Mean?
Test takers will be awarded an IELTS band score ranging from 0-9 for each test section that reflects their proficiency in English
The TRF shows a score for each individual’s skills such as Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking overall band score.
The test taker can score the whole band scores, for instance, 5.0, 6.0, 7.0, or half band scores like 5.5, 6.5, and 7.5 in each section of the test

Usually, the fee attached to this service is N15, 000 (for IELTS UKVI, the fee is N42, 277.50) this to be paid through bank transfer.
In this section, your money will be refunded if your score is increased for any section of the test.
Applying for remarking has to be between the periods of six weeks after the test date, regardless of whether you have taken computer-delivered or paper-based IELTS.

IELTS test Cancellation and Refund policy
The IELTS cancellation policy applies for IELTS Academic and General Training.
If a test taker decides to cancel the IELTS test, it will be allowed only within five weeks before the test date, the candidate receives a refund minus an administration fee of 25% of the test fee.
If the cancelation date is less than five weeks before the test date, the British council has the right to retain the whole fee. The refund can take up to four to six weeks before it will be processed.
Before canceling the test date, it will be necessary to download and complete the Request for Refund or Test Date form fill and send it to [email protected]
the form must be signed.
You can get the form below in the download section, and it will be sent with the evidence of payment issued from the bank
If there is an authentic medical certificate illness on the date of the exam is provided within five working days of the test date, together with the Request for refund or test date transfer form, the fee is refundable without the administration fee of 25% of the test fee
If both required documents which are authentic medical certificates in a local language or English are not received by the fifth working day after the test, the test taker will be marked absent and forfeit all claims.
Documents sent by fax or email are not accepted. Also, sick notes issued by the family are not accepted.

When there is a need to change the date of the test from the initial date booked, you can request a test day transfer which will be up to five weeks before the test date, this service is free of charge.
It will only cost the administrative fee 25% of the test fee
The new test date cannot exceed three months of the original date. In a sick condition, the transfer is possible within five weeks of the test if an original medical certificate is presented within five working days of the test date, including the Request for Refund or Test Date Transfer Form
When you receive a transfer to a new test date (either before the test or due to illness) and still ill on the second test date, then you are not eligible for a refund test fee nor to any further transfer to a new test date

IELTS for UKVI: Cancellations & Transfer policy for Exam test takers
It will be necessary to know that for IELTS for the UKVI test taken from 7 April 2020 onwards, the following UKVI specific cancellations and transfer policy apply.
Apart from IELTS for UKVI, those taking their test before 7 April 2020 should visit the general policy
Cancellation
Test takers can cancel their IELTS test registration at any giving time before
their test by notifying the test center.
Refunding depends on when you cancel and whether exceptional circumstances apply
Time to the test date
When you cancel your IELTS test registration before 14 days of the test, you will receive a 75% refund of the total fee
Within 14 days but more than 2 days before the test date
Test takers who wish to cancel their IELTS test Registration within 14 days but more than two days before the test, will receive a 50% refund of the total test fee.
Within two days of the test date
Candidates who cancel their IELTS test registration within two days of the test will receive a 25% refund of the total test fee
Cancellation on the Test Day or After the test
Individual who cancels their IELTS test registration on the test day or after the test will get no refund.
1.The exception of Test Takers
Test takers may open up a case for exceptional circumstances to their test centers before the test and up to five working days after the test date if they did not attend the test
The test center will respond to them within seven working days of receiving their case in writing.
The test center will assess the case for exceptional circumstances.
All the cases for exceptional circumstances and supporting evidence must be received by the test center no later than five working days scheduled test date.
In a situation where the IELTS center approves a certain case of the test taker the individual will receive a full refund less an administration fee of no more than 25%

In a case of serious medical situations that prevent the test taker from attending or performing normally on test day, such conditions require supporting evidence of a medical certificate from a qualified medical practitioner.

Some certain circumstances that are outside the control of the test centers control may lead to the cancellation of the test.
The circumstances include and are not limited to severe weather conditions, Natural disasters, civil unrest, and industrial action.
The circumstances above will trigger your test center to provide you with as much notice as possible and give you the choice of either a full refund or transfer for a future test date convenient to the test taker.
In a situation where a test center cancels a test under circumstances within its control, the test taker is eligible to apply for compensation for the expenses so far, in addition to a full refund.
The eligibility will be assessed as a reasonable claim or not by the test center and any compensation will be awarded depending on the following conditions:
IELTS test center will examine whether the decision to cancel is within or outside the control
Compensation awarded will be limited to travel and accommodation expenses only which are:
Incurred as a result of planning your attendance on the test day
Evidence of payments i.e Receipts
Evidence that shows the canceled travel and accommodation charges are non-recoverable from vendor
The benchmark against the lowest reasonable market rates for the expenses in question which will be carried out by the test center
When the individual travel further than the closest test venue to their normal place of residence, then the test center will not find the claims reasonable
Transfers
More than 14 days before the test date
Test takers may change their test date at any time more than 14 days before the test day.
They must select a test date that is available within the next 3 months from the original test date. If the preferred test date is more than 3 months after the original date, then the transfer will be canceled.
Test takers can only transfer the same booking once. The IELTS test center may charge an administration fee up to 25% of the total test fee
