Bilateral Education Agreement (BEA) Scholarship Award 2024/2025

Applicants are invited for the Bilateral Education Agreement (BEA) Scholarship Award 2024/2025, through the Honourable Minister of Education (HME), Prof. Tahir Mamman OON, SAN. Interested Nigerian students who are eligible should commence the application procedure, following the guide in this publication.

In the ever-evolving landscape of education, Nigerian students now have a golden opportunity to elevate their academic pursuits through the Bilateral Education Agreement (BEA) Scholarship Awards for the academic year 2024/2025. Administered by the Federal Government of Nigeria through the Ministry of Education, this scholarship initiative spans undergraduate, master’s, and Ph.D. levels, providing a gateway to fully-funded educational opportunities.

BEA Scholarship 2024

Here is a number of official information you may need before proceeding with the Bilateral education agreement (BEA) scholarship award:

i) Undergraduate (UG) studies tenable in Russia, Morocco, Hungary, Egypt and Algeria; 

ii) Postgraduate (PG) studies tenable in Russia (for those whose first degrees   were obtained from Russia), China, Hungary, Serbia, Romania.

Eligible Fields for BEA Award

Students undergoing any of the programs below are eligible for the Bilateral Education Agreement (BEA) Scholarship:

a. Undergraduate level – Engineering, Geology, Agriculture, Sciences, Mathematics,  Environmental Sciences, Sports, Law, Social Sciences, Biotechnology, Architecture, Medicine (very limited), Pilot Engineering, Neurologist and

b.  Postgraduate level (Masters Degree and PhD) in all fields.

Application Requirements

UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS:

  • Academic Excellence Requirement:
    • All applicants for undergraduate degree courses must showcase a strong academic record.
    • A minimum qualification of Seven (7) Distinctions (As & Bs) in the Senior Secondary School Certificates, WASSCE/WAEC (May/June) is required.
    • Distinctions should include English Language and Mathematics, emphasizing the relevance to their chosen fields of study.
  • Certificate Validity:
    • Certificates presented should not be more than two (2) years old for Non-African Countries (2022 & 2023).
    • For African countries, the certificate age limit is one year (2023) only.
  • Age Criteria:
    • Applicants must fall within the age range of 17 to 20 years to be eligible for the undergraduate degree courses.

POSTGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS:

  1. Academic Qualifications:
    • Postgraduate applicants are required to hold a First Degree with a 1st Class or at least 2nd Class Upper Division.
  2. National Youth Service Corps (N.Y.S.C.) Completion:
    • All applicants must have successfully completed the N.Y.S.C. Programme.
  3. Age Criteria:
    • The age limit for Master’s degree applicants is 35 years, while Ph.D. applicants should be within the age range of 40 years.
  4. Additional Requirements:
    • i) Only N.Y.S.C discharge or exemption certificates are accepted.
    • ii) Applicants must provide evidence of readiness to be released by an employer.

GENERAL NOTE FOR ALL APPLICANTS: 

  1. Language Course Requirement:
    • Since BEA countries are non-English speaking, applicants must be prepared to undertake a mandatory one-year foreign language course in the country of their choice. This language will serve as the standard medium of instruction.
  2. Hungarian Scholarship Application:
    • All applicants for the Hungarian Scholarship can apply for up to two fields of study in order of preference.

    • Complete the application form online.

  4. Russian Postgraduate Scholarship Requirement:
    • All applicants for the Russian Postgraduate Scholarship must have acquired their first degree in Russia.
  5. Document Upload Guidelines:
    • All documents for the Russian application portal must be properly scanned in PDF format.
  6. Certificates to be Uploaded Online:
    • i. UNDERGRADUATE (UG): Upload WAEC/WASSCE & NIN Slip.
    • ii. POSTGRADUATE (PG): Upload 1st Degree Certificate, NIN Slip, & NYSC discharge or exemption Certificate.

NB:     Candidates nominated by the Board will be required to submit to Federal    Scholarship Board the following:

  1. Authenticated copies of academic certificates; 
  2. Data page of the current International passport; 
  3. Specified Medical Reports from Government hospitals;
  4. Birth Certificate & Indigene letter

v)    Police Clearance Certificate where necessary.
