Erasmus Mundus/IMRD Scholarships 2021 for International Students

The Erasmus Mundus/IMRD Scholarships 2021 for International Students are available to students of all nationalities (students with financial challenges) who are willing to pursue their education.

The scholarships cover your tuition expenses, a monthly allowance of EUR 1000, and a donation of EUR 7000 to be used during the program for travel and installation costs.

A minimum of the top 15 applicants for the scholarships are chosen each year! 3 students from Europe and 12 students from non-European countries.

The Management Board can decide to accept more than 15 applicants for the scholarship.

About Erasmus Mundus/IMRD scholarships

The European Union’s Erasmus Mundus program aims to improve quality in higher education through scholarships and academic co-operation between the EU and the rest of the world.

The EMJMD student bursary includes:

Contribution to the expense of student participation (including tuition, library and laboratory fees, full insurance coverage, and all other mandatory costs associated with student participation in the Master’s program)

A contribution towards the expense of student travel and installation;

A monthly livelihood allowance for the whole length of the research program of the EMJMD.

Eligibility:

For Erasmus Mundus:

Candidates who have the official nationality of an Erasmus+ partner country.

However who meet the requirements for IMRD admission and have been acknowledged to participate in the IMRD program academically by the IMRD Management Board.

The program’s other criteria for eligibility include:

Candidates must certainly, have a Bachelor’s degree of at least 3 years from a university or a recognized equivalent (preferably agricultural economics).

However, with strong overall grades, preferably bio-science engineering or agricultural sciences (at least a second class or equivalent, preferably higher).

Candidates must be able to show fundamental science education in (i) mathematics and/or statistics through their transcripts;

(ii) agronomy and/or biology and/or environmental sciences; and

(iii) social sciences/sociology and/or rural development and/or economics.

Requirements for languages:

You must be fluent in the English language, you will present at least 5 years certificate showing you were in school.

              ACADEMIC IELTS 6, 5 detailed ranking

              CEFR B2 Issued by the European Language Centre of Universities

              ESOL CAMBRIDGE English CAE English (Advanced

Except for applicants who are nationals of or have earned a bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in a higher education institution with English as a mode of instruction in the USA, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland, or Canada.

The language of instruction is no longer recognized and in the latter case, a certificate must be submitted that the mode of instruction was English.

For VLIR-UOS:

According to a particular set of eligibility requirements, VLIR-UOS offers a limited number of full scholarships for students each year.

At the time of application, applicants must be a national AND a resident of one of the 31 scholarship countries.

Selection: 

The Management Board of the IMRD shall pick the beneficiaries of these scholarships.

After reviewing all the complete application files of academically accepted applicants for the IMRD program who have applied for the scholarships correctly and in a timely manner, they take their decisions carefully. 

Number of prizewinners: Not mentioned

Scholarship Value:

In the case of Erasmus Mundus:

  • 2-year program the expense of the IMRD program (= 2 x 9,000 => EUR 18,000)
  • Total Worldwide Insurance Coverage for 2 years
  • Contribution to charges for travel and installation (either 5,000 or 7,000 EUR)
  • 24 monthly payments for survival (= 24 x 1,000 => EUR 24,000)

The Student Scholarship EMJMD does not include:

  • Cost of visa
  • The material of the research
  • From one versatility to another, transportation costs

Concerning VLIR-UOS: 

ALL related costs are covered by the scholarship (full cost).

Tuition & Scholarships for Erasmus Mundus

Students have to pay a tuition fee in order to pursue the curriculum, covering all activities that various colleges can fairly offer to allow you to complete your degree.

What does that entail exactly? 

Covered:

 seminars, participation in the case study, tuition fees for all partners where you take classes, and all insurance courses.

Not covered: 

mobility, housing, and living costs between partner institutions.

It is possible to grant financial assistance in the form of scholarships to top applicants. There are a small number of scholarships granted.

During the online application process, you can choose whether or not you want to apply for a scholarship.

Top scholarship applicants are nominated by the selection committee.

These candidates shall then be presented to the Management Board of the IMRD, which shall decide on the final list.

A European student from any of the Erasmus + program countries are classified as a national.

Only after the application process is finished and when you successfully enroll in IMRD would you need to pay tuition. If you plan to enroll in September, tuition must be charged by the end of August.

IMRD seeks to train practitioners in rural communities who contribute to the resolution of socio-economic, natural resource, and agricultural challenges.

A multi-disciplinary approach, a comparative analysis of EU and non-EU models, a versatile program of studies

And specific conditions for mobility enable students to take a broad view of rural development and to create an international network.

This is a master’s program that covers four semesters (2 years) and 120 ECTS. It is jointly organized by 6 European core partners and 9 non-European associated partners.

The program begins every year at the beginning of September at the University of Ghent (Belgium) with the Be Prep preparatory course and the kick-off event.

The course consists of 5 modules, each of which can be carried out at a different venue, with the option of an internship.

Mobility of IMRD learners 

All IMRD students are expected to spend a minimum of one semester at two partner universities in the EU.

Certain additional mobility requirements may be required depending on the route followed.

Applications for an International Master of Science in Rural Development (IMRD) are quick; see if you meet the admission requirements and apply free of charge for admission.

Application Deadline of the scholarship

Non-EEA citizens or EEA citizens applying for one of the scholarships operated by the IMRD Consortium must complete the online application form by 21 February send, by 28 February at the latest.

Their legalized hard copies of the diploma and transcript + copy of the English proficiency certificate.

The application must be completed by 1 June by non-EEA citizens residing in Belgium with a valid residence permit or by EEA citizens who are not applying for a scholarship.
