MSc and above in the fields of Electronics and Electronic Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Satellite Communications Engineering, Satellite Systems Engineering or other related fields of research with 4 years or more of work experience in those fields.

Responsibility

Study on the design and production of small to medium-sized satellite systems.

Help for subsystems of the platform, payload instruments, on-board program control, satellite simulator, and operations of the ground portion.

Monitor the proper functioning of orbital satellites and troubleshoot operational failures of the satellite in orbit.

Providing feedback and updating the description of operating principles of the system and satellite.

Monitor the proper functioning of orbital satellites and troubleshoot failures of satellite service in space.

Support for new satellite commissioning and regular operations.

Professional Skill: Good engineering and natural science background.

Associate Researcher- II and Above 

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in observational, astrophysics, and computational astronomy.
  • Optical observational astronomy training is mandatory.
  • Job experience in previous years at research centers or universities is compulsory.
  • It is compulsory to apply 2-3 pages of research proposals and activities at the time of submission.
  • 2 years of experience at work.

Responsibility

Operation and construction of the Entoto Observatory, and possible development of other future Ethiopian astronomical sites.

The Entoto Observatory, the A&A department, and the ESSTI science and scientific growth.

Entoto’s celestial observations and data reduction.

Lecturing within the post-graduate curriculum of the A&A department.

Supervision of MSc and Ph.D. students.

Coordination of teams, classes, units, etc. of study

Mobilization of capital (grants, plans, human resources, etc.) and expanding national and international partnerships with the A&A department and ESSTI.

Depending on the needs and availability of the participant, involvement in all other activities within the Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics.
