Yale Young Global Scholars

The Yale Young Global Scholars (YYGS) offers five (5) different disciplines segmented into sessions; which are politics, literature, science and solving global problems.

Note that this program is free and does not give grades or college credits  

The program has three sessions: June 21 – July3, July 5 – July 17, and July 19 – 31, 2020. Each of the sessions has a limited number of intakes that they accept. 

The program is organized every year and the application for the Yale Young Global Scholars starts in December and ends in January.

Annenberg Youth Academy for Media and Civic Engagement

The Annenberg Youth Academy for Media and Civic Engagement is a one-month summer professional academy for twenty-six skillful high school students from the communities within the Health Science Campuses and the USC University Park.

The program exposes students to educational facilities and resources equivalent to first-year college-level courses.

With this free program, students are developed with rich conceptual understanding and relevant practical roles which journalism and media communications play in building civic-oriented leaders and innovators.

This free program organized by Annenberg Youth Academy is non-residential for the participants and it starts on June 15, 2021, and ends July 10, 2021 (class is not held on July 3 because of Independence Day), from 9 AM – 4 PM. this was the date as of the time of this post

The Annenberg Youth Academy for Media and Civic Engagement covers

  • Free breakfast and lunch daily for students.
  • Students are given a TAP card worth $50.
  • Also, they also pay for the students’ educational field trips.
  • The program includes college essay preparation from the USC and college advising.
  • Applications will be available in November 2021.

Bank of America Student Leaders

This scholarship program is for high school juniors and seniors who wish to participate in a two month paid internship at a local organization (nonprofit). Students in this program will learn about the primary needs of their respective communities and the critical responsibilities handled by nonprofit organizations.

 Students in this program will learn valuable social, civic, and professional business skills. Every participating student will attend the Student Leaders Summit which will be held in Washington, D.C. 

Students who are attending the summit in Washington, D.C. will be exposed to learning resources on the collaborative operation of the business, government, and the nonprofit sectors and on how they collectively address pressing community needs. 

Students who will be participating in this program should be able to participate in an 8-week paid internship at a local nonprofit organization. These students are to work for 35 hours a week. 

Deadline to apply is January 31, 2021

Business Opportunities Summer Session (BOSS) | Penn State

The Business Opportunities Summer Session is a two-week program that is meant for high school students who are interested in going for business education at an accredited University or College. 

However, this is an opportunity for high school students to prepare for some college activities which they stand to face when they finally gain admission into the college.

They will also have the opportunity to learn business fundamental courses that are being offered by Penn State faculty.

The participants of this program stand a very good chance to get a glimpse of what typical college life is like by staying in residence halls while they are participating in the program for two-week.

The summer program for high school students worth $50 and a scholarship are available for the best performing student to study in a college. The program runs from June 14, 2021 – June 26, 2021. Note that this program is available for high school students to apply during the summer.

Carnegie Mellon University Summer Academy for Math and Science (SAMS)

The Carnegie Mellon University Summer Academy for Math and Science is designed to offer a free summer program for high school students that lasts for six weeks.

This summer program will prepare students to develop a high level of understanding in areas like biology, mathematics, physics, and computer programming. 

Students in this free summer program will be exposed to a traditional classroom why they are being taught.

The outstanding part of this summer program is that students who are participating in this program receive instruction in a conventional classroom, also get hands-on projects and engagement activities.

The program will last from June 27, 2021– August 8, 2021. 

The next application will be available for you in November.

Cornell University Curie Academy

This is another free summer program for high school students who seek to utilize their summer break to develop themselves.

The Curie Academy lasts for a week and it is a residential program for high school students who are females. High school girls who are good in science and mathematics are preferred candidates for this opportunity.

Also take note that upcoming seniors (class of 2021) who are Latino, African/Black American, Native American/Alaska Native, or Pacific Islander are the main target for this program.

Students who meet the above criteria will get a full tuition waiver for their study in the 2021 CURIE Academy.
