Health Insurance

This aspect is very important to applicants coming from outside the EU. Applicants must get health insurance before and after applying for school and visa.

If you don’t get this, the institution isn’t responsible for any complications of health.

Although, if you are a resident or citizen of the EU, there must be an agreement of health insurance between your country and Germany.

This means if your country has covered your health insurance, you might not need to get one again in Germany.

You will generally need to get a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) to take advantage of this (free to obtain).

If your health insurance is not valid in Germany, expect to pay between €80 (US$92) and €160 (US$176) per month to cover this.

The cost is higher if you’re over 30, and if you’re over 29 when starting your course you can only obtain private insurance.

German student visa

Although, the application for a student visa depends on the country the applicants own their origin to.

Check your country status with the German if they are compatible for a student visa or not.
