My Personal Experience
I am a Nigerian graduate from one of the best Federal Universities of technology, and having studied computer science for 5 years, I decided to tread the path of awakening programming needs in the minds of people.
But most importantly, ensure that a legion of aspiring students get rid of the illusion that being a computer science graduate automatically entitles someone a programmer or well-informed user of the information systems.
If that is obtainable in other countries, Nigeria and most other African countries have not developed the technical wings needed to produce such breeds of graduates from the usual degrees.
My zeal and fantasies for becoming a computer guru faded into thin air when I reached at 300 Level without a trace of such identity; with only about three day’s laboratory experience. Even at the lab, tutorials were focuses on the outdated C# and C++ with a touch of BASICS. Other CSC courses had much to do with statistics, automata, Algorithm and Algebra (which were essential) but do not provide any relevant real-world expertise or even practical approach to programming. These experiences got all my wills drowned into sourcing for external classes to begin my coding career.
Programming courses demand undivided attention that one will hardly achieve in a crowded classroom.
This understanding came after a series of efforts to comprehend what my personal tutor was all talking about, combining classes with my job and a few other things I had to attend to.
