How to Get a Student Visa to Study in Indonesia (Complete Steps)

Getting a student Visa to study in UMY and other universities in Indonesia simply takes almost the same route. International students have to apply for a student visa. It is also pertinent to note that a tourist visa is

not enough to stay in Indonesia for over one month.

For full-time Student (4 years) and Exchange Program (6 months-1 years)

They are supposed to use a Limited Stay Permit Visa (ITAS). The Process to

require ITAS that are:

1. The student may come to Indonesia by using VKSB or Vitas

2. UMY Propose the Student Permit to DIKTI; and

3. Conversion process from VKSB/Vitas to ITAS can be done when the

Student Permit from DIKTI was done.

a. Conversion process of ITK to ITAS would be 2-3 month

b. Conversion process of Vitas to ITAS would be 7 days for Exchange Program (3-6 months)

For the purpose of getting international students into this country, a 3-6 month Social Cultural Visa (VKSB) is used. Process for acquiring the VKSB only needs to bring the recommendation letter and letter of acceptance from UMY or any other institution, to the Indonesian Embassy in their country. VKSB can be valid until 6-month maximum but it must be extended every month.
