The Impact of COVID-19 on applications and selection

Statement from the Warden: Impact of COVID-19 on applications and selection for the 2021 Rhodes Scholarships:

The Rhodes Trust is delighted that you are interested in applying for the Rhodes scholarship!

As Warden of Rhodes House, it is my pleasure to announce that, despite the challenges we are all facing due to the pandemic, applications for the 2021 Rhodes Scholarships will open as usual on the 1 June (US and Australia on 1 July) and selection will go ahead as planned later this year.

Given the current public health crisis, the selection will be modified.  In most cases, we will use remote interviews, with appropriate technologies to manage that.

This remote approach may require modification for applicants in parts of the world with limited access to data or bandwidth.

In all cases, we will work to ensure that every finalist has a full, fair, and equitable opportunity to be interviewed.

Further documents will be published on our website in due course to help guide and prepare you for the 2021 selection process.

In addition, we recognize that conditions in some parts of the world may pose difficulties to applicants submitting portions of their application, such as academic transcripts.

If you are experiencing difficulties due to COVID-19 conditions please contact us by either sending an email to [email protected] or address them directly to the National Secretary for your constituency.

To find the contact information for your National Secretary, please go to our apply page and select your constituency: https://www.rhodeshouse.ox.ac.uk/scholarships/apply/.

How to Apply for Rhodes Scholarships 2021

Following the COVID-19 effects on scholarship applications worldwide, the organizers have published a new guide for applicants as can be seen through the update above.

However, to apply, you should visit the official website below:

Note: It is our general recommendation that students applying for scholarships from this page should endeavor to understand the objectives of each scholarship offers; as it will help in the preparation of the scholarship applications.

This, over the years, has become an undermining factor that has denied thousands of students their opportunities to secure their needed funds from scholarship schemes.
