Pakistan National College of Arts (Admission, Tuition and Financial Aids)

A visionary approach to the arts has been maintained by the Pakistan National College of Arts, as the oldest institution, remains one-of-a-kind to all students who are aspiring to pursue their academic dreams into the National College in Pakistan.

Additionally, the college now boasts a remarkable seven departments, from an agricultural polytechnic in 1875 to a contemporary arts college beginning with three main departments in 1958.

All of which contribute annually to Pakistan’s technical societies, the country’s best artists, architects, designers, ceramicists, filmmakers, cultural researchers, and musicologists.

The test of time has been confirmed by the school undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate courses. There are also Pakistan scholarships and it is fully funded. The majority of the professionals created by our institute, work globally and nationally in multinational businesses.

An overview of the University

Established in 1985, the National College of Arts is a public, non-profit higher education institution located in the urban setting of the massive metropolis of Lahore, Punjab, with a population of over 5,000,000. A branch campus in Rawalpindi is open for this institution as well.

A very small coeducational Pakistani higher education institution (uniRank enrollment range: 1,000-1,999 students) is officially recognized by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, National College of Arts (NCA). 

Also, In several fields of study, the National College of Arts (NCA) offers courses and programs leading to officially accepted higher education degrees, such as bachelor’s degrees.

Admission 

All Candidates shall apply for payment or as advertised on the prescribed Admission Application Form available from the College. For registered book post, Outstation candidates should add sum and submit the money order/postal order addressed to the Principal, National College of Arts, and Lahore.

To receive the prospectus by airmail, foreign students should submit the required number of international reply coupons. Applications from applicants in the Punjab region will be received by the College Office.

In other provinces of the country, applicants should send their applications to their respective Technical Education Chief.

Northern Region candidates should send their applications for further transmission to the College to the Secretary Nomination Board/Director of Education (Colleges) Gilgit, Baltistan, Directorate of Education, Gilgit, and Baltistan. Azad Jammu & Kashmir.

Applicants should send their applications to the College through the Technical Education Director/Secretary Nomination Board, Muzaffrabad.

The prescribed application forms (available at the college) should be forwarded to the college by all international students.

Applicants must submit their applications on time to ensure that the applications are received by the college by the due date.

The approved photocopies of the following documents must be followed by the admission application:

1. Certificate of Secondary School (SSC) or its Equivalent Certificate

2. Higher Secondary/Intermediate or its Certificate Equivalent

3. Certificate with descriptions of the obtained labels.

4. Documents supporting secondary qualifications (if any)

5. Certificate for Domicile

6. Pages 1 to 5 (International Students only) Passport

7. Card of national identity

8. Five recent photos of the attested passport size.

9. Draft Bank as necessary

10. Father’s/Guardian Income Affidavit

In compliance with the Government of Pakistan’s rule on admission to national institutions, applicants from different areas of the country are assigned the following places for each degree course.

50% in Punjab

10% KPK

FATA at 5%

5% for Azad Jammu & Kashmir

20% Sind

7% of Balochistan

7% for Gilgit and Baltistan

Note: Before registration/enrolment in the Foundation semester, candidates granted admission are expected to submit other documents as directed.

Foreign Students

Registration into the National College of Arts

At the beginning of the academic year, Foundation Semester students are expected to register. Failure to complete the formalities for registration at the appropriate time, including payment of tuition fees and fees, may lead to the cancellation of registration at the College.

Moreso, student identity cards and student lockers are issued to all students upon registration, which are available at the College. Students of the Foundation Semester are required to register at the beginning of the academic year.

Tuition fee

Tuition fees for domestic tuition are 10,800 INR for the National College of Arts, and 5,000 USD for international tuition.

The fees and other charges are not refundable even if the students withdraw from the College or are struck off the rolls of the College unless otherwise specified.

Besides, Fees shall be paid on a semester basis based on the respective financial year, and absence from the college shall not be recognized as an excuse for non-payment of dues.

On compassionate grounds, the Principal may grant the full and half tuition fee exemption to a limit not exceeding 10 percent of the regular students on the college rolls.

In every government institution, students whose siblings pay full fees as regular students are entitled to a half-fee exemption in compliance with government laws.

At the beginning of the academic year, scholarships are announced, and applications from students for scholarship awards are invited.

Scholarship and Financial Aids

The College provides a small range of grants from government sources, private and alumni contributions, both as a need-based grant and on a merit basis.

Merit awards are granted by the Government following the outcome of the first term examination in the case of first-year foundation students and the outcome of the annual assessment in the case of students from other years.

A scholarship fund, administered by the Heads of Departments Committee, was created in 1992 through private sector donations for need-cum-merit assistance.

On compassionate grounds, the Principal may grant the full and half tuition fee exemption to a limit not exceeding 10 percent of the regular students on the college rolls.

As regular students at any government institution, students whose siblings pay the full fees are entitled to a half-fee exemption following government rules.

Selecting a requirement for Undergraduate programs into the National College of Arts

The College performs admission tests held in all of Pakistan’s regions.

12 years of relevant or comparable education with at least 45-50 percent marks in intermediate education and no 3rd division of registration.

In the drawing and aptitude exams, applicants seeking to enter the fine art department and faculty of design are expected to achieve high grades.

In addition to drawing and aptitude exams, applicants wishing to apply to the Department of Architecture are expected to pass an exam in mathematics.

An aptitude test will be required for those wishing to apply to the department of musicology and film and television.

Only those candidates who have passed the Higher Secondary/Intermediate Examination or its equivalent from any recognized institution with a minimum of 2nd Division (45% Marks) are entitled to take the admission exams. Third-division students are not eligible to apply.

Selecting a requirement for postgraduate programs into the National College of Arts

The college offers equal opportunities to women and men who have an excellent aptitude for the visual arts before applying for admission and who have attained a reputable degree of general education.

For persons with physical disabilities, the college does not discriminate against admission. The college conducts admission tests in all the provinces of Pakistan.

Applicants aspiring to join the fine art department and faculty of design are required to obtain high grades in the drawing and aptitude tests.

Applicants wishing to apply to the Department of Architecture are required to pass an exam in mathematics, in addition to drawing and aptitude tests.

For those wishing to apply to the department of musicology and film and television, an aptitude test will be required.

Only candidates who have completed an undergraduate degree with a minimum of 2.5 CGPA have the right to take the admission examinations. Students from the third-division are not qualified to apply.
